MCINNIS INDUSTRIES

McInnis Industries is a result of the foundation built by John McInnis Sr starting after World War II in the heavy construction industry and a family company he started in 1970. McInnis Industries is owned by John McInnis Jr and John McInnis III. Through the hard work and sacrifice of the McInnis Family,  the McInnis Companies have completed over 1,000 major projects in the United States and abroad, including the construction, demolition, and repair of over 1,000 bridges. Most of the construction work has been commissioned by state and federal governments. In addition to bridge building, they have completed major disaster projects, constructed and rehabilitated utilities infrastructure, provided a variety of services to military installations, and completed significant marine construction projects. The McInnis Companies have been instrumental in major disaster responses such as Hurricane Ivan, Hurricane Katrina, the BP Gulf Oil Spill, Hurricane Michael, and Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Over the past few decades the John McInnis Family has diversified into several non-construction industries including entertainment, motorsports, manufacturing, real estate and development, and technology.

Most of the work outlined above has been self-performed with company-owned equipment and personnel. Experience and assets developed in the transportation business include private toll bridges and roads, as well as vehicular and passenger ferry operations. As examples of such, the McInnis Companies built and owned a private toll road and vehicular ferry boat in south Alabama. The Foley Beach Express Toll Road, which was built in the 1990’s, is a 14 mile privately owned toll road and was one of the largest successful private toll roads ever built. The Mobile Bay Ferry was built in 1980 and carries cars and passengers across Mobile Bay between Mobile and Baldwin Counties.

EXAMPLES OF DISASTER WORKS

In the 80s, 90s, and early 2000's McInnis provided emergency services to State Departments of Transportation to help manage tanker spills on interstate systems as well as vehicular ferry boats for emergency bridge outings and replacements.

From 2004 to 2005 McInnis was tasked with cleaning up the City of Orange Beach, Al after the devastating Hurricane Ivan, a Category 3 Hurricane. McInnis managed all aspects of the disaster recovery and finished the entire clean-up in just 4 months allowing the city and all businesses the opportunity to take advantage of the 2005 spring and summer. The project included the cleaning of approximately 10 miles of beach that was largely covered with the first 3 floors of condominium content and building material.

From 2005 through 2008, John McInnis, Jr. served as the CEO of Unified Recovery Group, LLC, a joint venture that performed one of the largest clean-up projects in the history of the United States. After Hurricane Katrina, URG was awarded a contract to clean-up St. Bernard Parish in Louisiana. Over this three-year time period, URG:

Employed thousands of workers and hundreds of sub-contractors
Demolished over 8,000 structures in Southern Louisiana, a large portion of which were not only affected by the Murphy Oil Spill but also contained asbestos.
Collected, removed and disposed of over 6,000,000 cubic yards of debris
Pumped out and hauled away approximately 2,000,000 tons of raw sewage

In 2010 for the BP Deepwater Horrizon Oil Spill McInnis Industries would handle the response and cleanup of approximately 10 miles of Alabama Coastline.

In 2017 McInnis Industries provided significant logistic support for the non profit responses to Hurricanes Michael, Irma, and Maria in Florida and the Virgin Islands.

In 2018 McInnis Industries rebuilt or repaired over 700 houses on U.S. Government programs in the Puerto Rico, St Croix, and St Thomas.

In 2019/2020 McInnis Industries worked for AECOM and the U.S. Navy to help rebuild facilities damaged from Hurricane Michael on NSA Panama City, Florida.
